Sailing the Abel Tasman

When I spotted a buy one-get-one-free deal online for catamaran sailing in our "back yard", I jumped on it! We had only been in Nelson for a few months, so everything was still pretty new and we were keen to keep exploring!

While there wasn't much wind for most of the cruise, it was nonetheless beautiful. This catamaran took us nearly the full length along the famous Abel Tasman National Park. You can take dozens of hiking trails that are nestled back in the lush forest - which we've taken part in a few times! If the beauty of nature wasn't enough, we had a few sightings of seal pups playing, hungry seagulls (of course), and lone penguins swimming.

This is definitely an experience we will be sharing with our friends and family!

Horse Trekking the Farewell Spit

Still to this day, almost a year later, this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I mean, not only were we riding horses in new Zealand, but at the top of that hill, I was so grateful that we took this opportunity to make New Zealand happen. While the opportunity was given to us, we were the ones that made it happen. And this little horse trek was just one example of us seizing that opportunity!

While it was a beautiful day, the wind decided to test our balls-y-ness and see how we could handle a horse on the edge of a cliff... but we made it through.

From the guides at Cape Farewell Horse Treks, to the views, to the stubborn horses, this was all-around an amazing adventure. I can't wait to share it some family or friends as we await for our first American visitors!
